We all know that running your business means that there are a million tasks top of mind, so hanging onto the odd receipt to hand off to your bookkeeper can seem like a low priority.

There is an easier way to get this task off your mind, freeing you up to do the things that matter most to run your business successfully.

“Snap A Receipt” in your QuickBooks app on your phone.

Whenever you receive a receipt or bill, pull out your phone and “snap” the receipt, and there you have it! You’re bookkeeper now has the documentation they need.

No need to drop off files or keep track of what you need to provide later.

Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to use the app:

If you don’t yet have it, download the QuickBooks Online Accounting App
on your Phone

Select the QuickBooks App and log in to your QuickBooks Account. From there, select “Snap Receipt”

Hover over the receipt to scan,
QuickBooks will crop it for you.

Click “Got It!” to review

Add Another Image
by clicking the + square, or…
Hit “Done”

And there you have it!

Your receipt is in the receipts folder in QuickBooks Online, ready for your bookkeeper to review.

Taking this step every time you receive a bill takes 30 seconds or less.

It will save you time organizing receipts, searching for what your bookkeeper needs when they request documentation from you.

In the time it takes you to put the receipt into your wallet or purse, you can have it securely transferred to QuickBooks.

But what if I have files on my computer?

No problem, you can access your receipts folder from your web browser too!

Log in to your QuickBooks Online Web Browser and Select “Bank Transactions” from the left side navigation bar.

Select the “Receipts” tab from the Transactions Menu

Click the “Upload from Computer” button

Select your files and click “Open”

And there you have it!

Your files are now ready to review in the Receipts folder in QuickBooks Online

Our clients who use QuickBooks Receipts enjoy the following benefits:

  • Secure Data Transfer
  • Ability to store all their documents digitally
  • Ability to file away their paper documents
  • No longer getting pestered by their bookkeeper for documents they need
  • More accurate records
  • Peace of mind
  • Reduced time spent on bookkeeping (lower bills!)

We encourage you to take advantage of this feature if you use QuickBooks for your Online Accounting Software.

Making a habit of snapping your receipts as soon as they are handed to you gives all the information your bookkeeper needs to record your transactions with very little clarifications needed.

Your Accounts Payable will require less review and be accurate.

Your bookkeeper will also be able to pull reports for you to view your Accounts Payable so you know exactly what bills are owed, and when they are due.

Keeping track of your expenses as a whole and at a glance gives you better insight into your business and saves you from having to go through stacks of paper, trying to figure out which bills to pay first.

We hope you enjoy this feature that QuickBooks Online provides.
